GO ORANGE
FOR ANIMALS FESTIVITIES A HUGE SUCCESS!
April was Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month and ACOC participated in a variety of activities including fund raising for two animal welfare organizations, activites such as coloring contests, and culminating in a celebration via our Mini Mobile Vet Hospital float in the Geauga County Maple Festival Grand Parade!

The Geauga County Dog Warden and Caroline's Kids Pet Rescue
We collected over $519 dollars as a result of raffle, nail
trims, and the purchase of toys that raised funds for Caroline's Kids and the Geauga Dog Warden. Many people also dropped off items for donation. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped support our efforts!!!

Geauga County Maple Festival Grand Parade
Although rain rolled in as the parade began, we had a great time. Our float was a mini-veterinary hospital complete with Dr. Tom dressed as a dog in Go Orange gear! His sickness cured by, what else, IV Maple Syrup! Visit the ACOC website for more details and a slideshow of photos from our parade outing!

PROTECTING YOURSELF FROM ILLEGAL ONLINE PET PHARMACIES
With the rise in online pet pharmacies there comes a risk that you could be buying from pharmacies that sell conterfeit, outdated, mislabeled or inappropriately marked medicines for your pet. Before deciding to use an online pet pharmacy, be sure to educate yourself. Many of these pharmacies are illegal and it is hard to know which ones are legitimate. The FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine has created a resource for pet owners to learn more about this issue, and you can visit their site for an FDA pet pharmacy article that includes an informative printable PDF brochure.

PUPPY PARTIES AT ACOC
Puppy PartyJoin us at The Animal Clinic of Chardon for FUN puppy socialization!
Our Puppy Parties consist of 4 sessions (Fridays from 6-7pm) and are for puppies 6-16 weeks. Each session covers a variety of topics (wellness, behavior, first aid, micro-chipping) expanding on the stuff we don't get to cover in depth during appointments. Puppy Parties are also a time for puppies to play, socialize, and learn good behaviors. We've just completed our first session and it was a hit! For more information visit the ACOC News page where you can also download a registration form. Please call 440-285-9191 for information on the next scheduled Puppy Party date!

TIPS TO KEEP YOU ON YOUR TOES De-worming your cat

Have you ever had to give, or watch your cat be given, an oral de-wormer? It can be downright ugly!

ACOC now carries Profender® Topical Solution, the first and only topical cat dewormer that combines the powerful, broad-spectrum control of intestinal worms with the ease and convenience of a single dose treatment. Profender® treats and controls hookworm, roundworm and tapeworm infections in cats and kittens that are at least 8 weeks of age and weigh at least 2.2 lbs (1 kg).

ACOC recommends all adult cats be given a de-wormer at least every 6-12 months depending on age, exposure, and the ability to obtain a stool sample. Kittens should go through a series of de-worming as the majority of kittens are born with intestinal worms. Please call ACOC or ask your veterinarian for more information next time you visit.
