NEW to ACOC - Puppy Parties!
Our Puppy Parties consist of 4 sessions (Fridays from 6-7pm) and are for puppies 6-16 weeks. Each session covers a variety of topics (wellness, behavior, first aid, micro-chipping) expanding on the stuff we don't get to cover in depth during appointments. Puppy Parties are also a time for puppies to play, socialize, and learn good behaviors. To download a registration form visit our Client Forms page. Please call 440-285-9191 for information on the next scheduled Puppy Party date!

Comprehensive Diagnostic Examinations
We believe periodic examinations are the foundation of a complete health care program. We provide comprehensive examinations to thoroughly evaluate the health of every pet. During the visit we can review the past medical history and investigate changes that may be occurring. We will consult on routine care, nutrition, weight management, dental health, grooming, training, behavioral needs, and any other areas of concern. Different age groups have different needs, so the interval between examinations will vary based on age. For example, we offer specialized senior health care and diagnostics.

Preventive Medicine
Prevention is truly the best medicine. Preventive medicine is ultimately more effective and less expensive than waiting until an animal is obviously ill. Well-pet examinations are one of the most important things owners can do for their pets.

Reaching PawVaccine Consultations

Vaccine protocols and recommendations are continuously changing as new research emerges. Our doctors will formulate the safest and most effective vaccine protocol specifically for your pet based on species, age, and risk factors.

Surgical Services

We offer a full range of soft-tissue and some orthopedic surgical services for all pet species. All of our patients undergo pre-surgical evaluations and are closely monitored throughout the procedure and recovery periods. Patients requiring more specialized surgical procedures are referred to one of several local surgical specialists depending on the specific surgery and needs of the patient.

Dentistry

Dental health is such an important part of the overall health of our patients. We offer preventive and therapeutic dental procedures. The prophylactic treatment (cleaning) we perform includes thorough oral examinations, supra- and sub-gingival cleaning of the teeth, charting of every patient, polishing, and fluoride treatments. Intra-oral x-rays and specific treatments are performed as needed. Of course, we also focus on prevention as well!

In-house Diagnostic Laboratory Services

Our in-house laboratory is fully equipped to perform urinalyses, internal and external parasite identification, cytology, biochemical profiles, electrolyte analysis, and complete blood counts. We can also test for canine heartworm disease, feline leukemia, and feline immunodeficiency virus. We utilize local and national veterinary laboratory services for evaluation of other tissue and organ functions and for histological and cytological testing.

Couple with DogPharmacy Services
We maintain a fully stocked pharmacy for your convenience. We also use compounding pharmacies to help you get your pet to take the necessary medication. Many can be made into a flavored liquid or chewable tablet form.

Pain Management

Using innovative methods and new pharmaceuticals we can better manage pain in our patients with temporary or long-term pain control concerns. Pain medication is used for all surgical and dental patients, for joint disorders of the senior pet, for our cancer patients, during treatment for minor abrasions and torn toe nails, and for any other procedure or condition where pain is expected or evident.

Radiology
Our radiology services cover skeletal and soft tissue studies as well as specialized contrast studies. Our digital unit enables us to produce fast, state-of-the-art images, and we are able to produce a copy for our clients to take home. Services are performed in house and provide the doctors a great tool for diagnosis. We can also obtain board certified radiologist interpretations as needed.

Electrocardiogram

An electrocardiogram allows us to study the electrical activity of the heart. Indications for use of our ECG monitors include screening of high-risk patients, diagnosis of symptomatic patients, and monitoring during all anesthesia procedures. We provide this service via telecommunication and all results are interpreted by a board certified cardiologist.

Allergy Testing and Treatment

Many pets suffer from allergic symptoms. Our allergy testing program offers diagnosis and treatment plans that can relieve those symptoms allowing the patient a much higher degree
of comfort.

Glaucoma Screening

Glaucoma is a serious and painful disease caused by increased pressure in the eye. Early detection is critical. Using a specialized instrument called a Tonopen we can quickly and painlessly screen our patients for glaucoma. Certain breeds are predisposed; please ask us if yours is.

Blood Pressure Monitoring

Yes, animals do have complications from high blood pressure. Our blood pressure monitor is accurate and painless. If your pet suffers from kidney, hyperthyroid, diabetes, hyperadrenal, or heart disease then routine monitoring is advised.

RabbitExotic and Wildlife Care

We offer health care services for some exotic pet species including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice and rats, ferrets, chinchillas, and a few others. Our hospital has expanded its services to include care to sick and injured wildlife through Penitentiary Glen's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. We also provide well-care to their wildlife Animal Ambassadors.

Hospitalization Services

Post surgical and ill pets need a variety of hospitalization services. We have specialized equipment to aid us in offering the best care available.

Microchip Identification Services
The Avid microchip pet identification system is a permanent method of identification. A chip about the size of a grain of rice is implanted under your pet’s skin in the area of the shoulder blades. All area humane organizations scan lost pets for a microchip. The microchip can be placed during a regular appointment.
