Registered Veterinary Technician Joined the ACOC team in March 2019 Favorite thing or most inspiring part of position at ACOC: Over the years I have worked and interviewed at different vet clinics. I love the Fear Free concept and the genuine friendliness of everybody on the team at ACOC. I love talking to clients about... I love talking about behavior (a lot) and as a certified professional dog trainer, canine behavior is one of my strong suits. I love helping create healthy relationship between kids and dogs. However, I also really enjoy dentistry, which some find weird... Interested facts: I am German - born and raised. Most people pick up on that accent very quickly. Even after over a decade here, life in America is often still foreign to me. There are a lot of childhood references and colloquialisms that I just don't get. Sometimes it leads to hilarious misunderstandings... If I wasn't so darned good at my job, I'd probably be..... Working with kids at a museum. I love the combination of kids and science. Before I ventured into the veterinary field, my favorite jobs were working at COSI in Toledo and at the Cleveland Zoo. If I were a superhero, my superpower would be.... Traveling by thought (and taking others with me). I would love to travel the world. I am curious about other cultures & lifestyles, and I dream of seeing all the wonderful places all over the world. Plus, with that power I could go see my family at home whenever I wanted. If I were an animal, I would be a.... This is a tough question. My husband says I am like an elephant (just what a girl wants to hear...). He means that I am strong and protective of my herd... I guess, I can go with that. Elephants can also be very creative, which I like, and they are vegan and not very violent unless threatened. So, that works for me. What is your favorite ACOC core value and why? My favorite core value is being a Positivity Warrior. It goes further than just being a nice person. For me it means it is our declared goal to spread goodness and light. I see it at work every day: we are Fear Free, we recycle, we don't judge people, we communicate about boarders and patients who may be struggling every day and find solutions for these pets. We are courteous and genuine with clients, but also with each other. We maintain and raise funds for our Angel Fund for those cases that break all our hearts. And above all, we recognize that everybody we encounter has their own struggles and challenges, and we strive to help with those instead of assuming people are out to get us when they don't act the way we would like them to act.
