Why Not Chewy?
Here are some critical reasons we don’t recommend Chewy for your pet’s prescriptions:
- Limited Capabilities: Chewy cannot dispense Gabapentin, a medication we frequently prescribe, due to Ohio Board of Pharmacy regulations requiring OARRS compliance.
- Lack of Communication: Chewy doesn’t notify us about policy or product changes, leaving you and us uninformed.
- Short Approval Window: Chewy enforces a 4-day approval window, causing delays and frustration.
- FDA Warning: Chewy was warned by the FDA for marketing over-the-counter antimicrobial medications irresponsibly, raising ethical concerns.
- Lack of Integration: Chewy isn’t connected to our medical system, meaning prescriptions may not align with your pet’s records. They also don’t source directly from trusted manufacturers, affecting quality and small business support.
