Animal Care Assistant​

Animal Clinic of Chardon is currently looking for a part time (with full time potential) Animal Care Assistant to care for our boarding and daycare patients. This is an entry level veterinary position and is the perfect opportunity for someone who is interested in the veterinary field and needs experience. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a team setting as well as independently. This individual must also be responsible and able to work in a fast paced environment.

Minimum age requirement:
  • 18 years old or high school senior.
Professional Requirements:
  • Great customer service and communication skills.
  • Time-management skills.
  • Animal care skills a plus.
  • Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • The ability to bend and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds with assistance.
Personal Requirements:
  • Must be able to work morning shifts, night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possess compassion and the ability to provide proper care and interaction with each pet under our supervision.
  • Be capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
Performance Expectations:
  • Must be able to interact with clients in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Must possess confidence when interacting with our clients in person or when speaking over the phone.
  • Possess the ability to provide our patients proper care and compassion by following our clinic’s Standards of Care.
  • Be comfortable in providing care and interacting with all breeds and sizes in our Fear Free environment.
  • Record information such as feeding, play times, patient behaviors, and appearance within our practice management software.
  • Clean and sanitize patient condos, the play yard, and litter boxes. Wash patient food and water bowls. Launder, dry, and fold towels and blankets.
  • Possess the ability to monitor for signs of stress, anxiety, illness or injury and report immediately to our registered technicians and veterinarians.
  • Must be willing to learn and grow with the potential for advancement.
